Roo's February Fashion Column for Cornwall Today Magazine

Roo's Column for Cornwall Today – February 2016
"First of all, a Happy New Year to one and all. I hope 2015 was a blast, and I feel certain that 2016 is going to be a fabulous year filled with fun, love, fulfilment and of course, lots of colours!

Every year, the specialists at Pantone put together a trend report of the colours for the season. Spring 2016 is a particularly pleasing palette which will bring a smile to your face on even the dullest winter day. You can expect soft Rose Quartz, powdery cornflower blue Serenity, warm sunshine shades of yellow Buttercup and accents of bright Green Flash. In the words of Leatrice Eiseman, director of the Pantone Colour Institute: “Colours this season transport us to a happier, sunnier place where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves.”

Pantone Colours of the year 2016

Fashion-wise, January and February are unpredictable. Even though we’d like to discard the heavy knits, coats and hats, we could at any point be plunged into Arctic conditions, so we need to dress accordingly. So let’s just say we’re spring-bound, and with this, we can inject splashes of this exciting new colour palette into our wardrobes to ease us gently into the new season. I would advise looking out for well-chosen layers. A cornflower blue knit can be teamed with black jeans, boots, a long sleeved T-shirt and a beautiful scarf by our favourite Scandinavian brand Becksöndergaard. It’s all about buying pieces which will work with darker, heavier hues now, but can just as easily be thrown over a little camisole on a summer’s evening. Choose carefully

and build the foundations of your spring look; try little touches like a new rose-pink shade of lipstick, a slightly warmer shade of tinted moisturiser and, dare I say it, a little bronzer can go a long way as we wait patiently for the real thing to return to our shores.

With this newly found gorgeousness, sunkissed cheeks and rosy lips, surely this will give you the confidence to get down on one knee on February 29 and just pop the question. It only happens once every four years, so Carpe Diem! Let me know if he says yes. #girlpower I’ll be back in March for a sneak peek of what spring fashion looks like for 2016."
