The Cornish really do know how to celebrate Christmas, it truly is a magical time, especially in the South West. Cosy villages filled with twinkly lights and fishing towns bursting with food festivals and lanterns.
Eden’s Winter Festival, October 2017- February 18th 2018
Head to the Eden Project this winter for lots of magical adventures. Go for a skate on the glimmering ice rink or meet Father Christmas and his elves before settling down for a story the open fire.
Between November 25th and December 30th from 5-8pm experience the dazzling Festival of Light and Sound where Eden’s festive landscape is transformed with light projections and live music- not to be missed
And if all this doesn’t take your fancy then warm up with gourmet burgers and crepes whilst doing some Christmas shopping in the Eden shop.
Bedruthan’s Christmas Craft Fair, Saturday 25th-Sunday 26th November 10am-4pm
The build up to Christmas is filled with a whole host of incredible Craft fairs. Bedruthan Hotel's Craft Fair is a wonderful way to support arts and crafts locals, whilst buying your loved ones really unique , handcrafted gifts. Over 50 stalls huddled together in the warmth of the hotel’s surroundings. Or why not drop-in and be creative yourself by taking part in our workshops- there really is something for everyone.
Sugar and Spice Grotto- December 1st-24th 2017
Another festive calendar highlight is a visit to Santa’s Grotto, and where better than at the Bedruthan Hotel. Begin in the new Snow Zone making snow angels and throwing snowballs. Get a photo with Tomte and watch their new festive film, then wind your way to the Grotto through snow tickled branches of the Winter Wood. Meet the pixies and hunt for the magic stars before making a wish and hanging it on the wishing tree. Pull up a toad stool to meet Father Christmas himself and receive a small gift. Finally make a pottery decoration in the Christmas workshop to take home with you.
Angarrack Christmas Lights, Saturday 2nd December 2017- Friday 5th January 2018
A charmingly tiny village with a huge reputation for magical light displays. Angarrack near Hayle animates the 12 Days of Christmas above the rooftops and in the streams.\
Mousehole Christmas Lights, December 16th 2017-January 6th 2018
With light displays reflecting in the harbour water, Mousehole’s Christmas Lights festival is a unique and atmospheric festive experience. With some of the beautiful designs dating back to 1963 being combined with new designs the whole town is really involved.
Padstow Christmas Festival, Thursday 7th- Sunday 10th December 2017
Everybody knows how important food is to Christmas, and the Cornish really do understand good food. Featuring a full timetable of demonstrations and tastings from ground breaking chefs it’s the perfect chance to buy gifts and goodies for your Christmas table. Make a day of it and visit the pop up stalls to tuck in to some proper Cornish, delicious food.
Christmas Carols by the Beach,The Laid-back Coffee co. Friday 22nd December 2017 @ 3-6 pm
Come and top-up your festive cheer at The Laid-back Coffee Co. annual carols by the beach from 3pm-6pm on the 22nd of December! The Choirmaster is booked. The wine will be mulling and mince pies will be warming. Don't forget to wear your Christmas jumpers and bring your best fa-la-las.
