How To Style // AW16 Denim
This season we have an amazing selection of denim pieces from Levi’s - even if we do say so ourselves. In our opinion you can never go wrong with a pair of classic jeans or have too many pairs, but just incase you need some inspiration on how to refresh your jean wardrobe, here are our top tips for styling new season denim!
Fit: Cropped leg. Straight through hip and thigh
Introducing! A new, modern interpretation of the iconic 501, these are the ultimate easy, every day, made to be lived in jeans! Inspired by those style-savvy fans who would hunt down the perfect vintage pair of 501’s and get them customised for the perfect fit, the 501 CT’s feature a cropped, tapered leg and a mid rise with extra coverage in the seat. Made from a stretch, light blue denim that's super comfortable, these should always be worn rolled up! The great thing about this style is that they are so versatile and can be a few different ways. They are not fitted, so we recommend sizing depending on your look. Get your usual size for the classic, regular fit. Go down by one or two sizes for a slim, more modern fit or upsize for a relaxed, almost boyfriend style. However, you wear them, make sure they’re teamed with something that has a similar vintage feel, like the from Wildfox. With a big pink heart design on the front, it’s the perfect piece to match with these jeans for a casual yet chic everyday look. Alternatively, for a more retro look, the from Marie Sixtine is perfect, featuring an all-over, pretty 70's floral print on a warm yellow base.
Fit: Skinny leg, Cut slim on the hip and thigh
For those who like a skinnier fit - don’t worry we’ve got you covered. Levi’s 721 is the ultimate skinny jean. Whatever your body type these will look amazing on you, they’re just one of those ‘look-amazing-on-everyone’ styles. Crafted from an innovative stretch denim, they’re slim through the hip and thigh with a skinny leg and super flattering high rise waist that’s sure to make them a wardrobe staple.
This season we’ve got them in two colours. Black Sheep is a blacker than black shade that will literally go with anything but would look so good with a classic striped top like the Balitown Black Striped Top from American Vintage. Add the Volcom Wale Watching Brown Cord Jacket for a 90’s throwback. Surplus Tint is a timeless blue shade, pair with some ankle boots like the Penelope Chilvers Slate Grey Leone Suede Boots and an oversized knit like the Marie Sixtine Knit Alon Vanille Striped Jumper for a look that will take you right through to next Summer.
Fit: Slim with a straight leg and sit below the waist
Another new style to come to Roo’s Beach this Autumn is Levi's 505c, a slimmer and more modern cut of the original 505’s that were made popular by the 70’s rockers of New York. This style has a lower rise than the original 501’s and a slim fit with a straight leg. We have these in the shade DeeDee which is a seriously cool washed black in a heavyweight denim with a bit of a stretch to it. For a truly classic look, we’d rock these, turned up, with a good quality basic, such as the O’Neill Jacks Essentials Black Out Tank Top or the American Vintage Albaville Black Top.
You know what they say, twice as much denim is twice as good and we think there’s no going wrong with a cheeky bit of double denim. To pull off this look, go with Levi’s 711 skinny jeans in blue lane, they’re really flattering with a mid-rise waist that holds and lifts all day every day and balance out with the slightly oversized Levi’s Boyfriend Trucker Heirloom Denim Jacket in a vintage-inspired faded blue wash. To break up this chic 90’s look with a pop of colour, style with the American Vintage Kimosborow Lemon Jumper.
