National Bikini Day 2016
If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get that bikini you’ve been coveting all summer, well there’s no time like the present as today, July 5th is National Bikini Day 2016!
This day marks the anniversary of the invention of the bikini in 1946 by a French automobile engineer and clothes designer, Louis Réard (1897 – 1984).
Constructed from a modest 30 square inches of fabric the bikini has come a long way since the two-piece was first unveiled at the Piscine Molitor, a popular swimming pool in Paris, France.
Despite the outcry caused by Réard's design, the two-piece is now truly a summer staple and Roo's Beach stocks a range of bikinis from Eidon, O'Neill and MinkPink in different shapes and sizes to fit and flatter.
The goal of National Bikini Day is to promote Réard's contribution to designing this iconic piece of fashion, so hit the beach, pool or even your garden and spend the day lounging in your bikini!
