Refreshing Times: Porth Store Refit
Having spent nearly 5 years in our Porth store we felt that it was time to give it a well needed re-fresh and in true Roo’s Beach style. We got a little carried away and before we knew it we were knocking down walls and the project had expanded a little beyond a quick lick of paint! We’re constatntly looking for newness, on the search for interesting brands, thinking of ways we can move the space around, keeping everything fresh and interesting and so we decided to re-locate our office into the back of the shop and open up that space to share our wonderful, much talked about wallpaper with everyone – we’ve had it to ourselves for a couple of years so it was time to be generous.
The new layout is fantastic, it's given us so much more space to work with and we now have a designated lifestyle and home area filled with jewellery, gifts, stationery and textiles. There is also a colourful new card display mounted to our old office door and we have introduced lovely new brands Dicky Bird, Wrap Stationary and Lucky Horse Press into the mix – all so beautiful. It's so great to now have a really exciting and wider brand offering for our customers, but this in turn makes our buying decision making a little more challenging!
We have designed a new denim wall, a designated area to showcase our favourite wardrobe staple. Having recently introduced Lee jeans for SS18 we had run out of display space, so this is a welcome addition and we hope it will make it much easier to glimpse over all the different styles and fits on offer.
Another area we’re excited about is we’re installing a water tap (nearly finished) so customers can refill their bottles. It’s so important that we all do our bit for the planet and we’re as committed as everyone else to help reduce plastic waste. wWe have fantastic water bottle brands - Dopper, Bkr and a new one - Chilly’s and strongly feel that if people can refill a bottle then there’s no need to keep buying disposable, bottles of water.
We have to extend a huge thank you to Ian for his design input along with the Roo’s Beach team and for the very brilliant Ray and Jack who built everything. Their attention to detail and commitment to their trade is inspirational and the front desk they’ve built us is a true work of art, I sourced the tiles from Bert and May, such beautiful tiles - thank you!
It’s all still a work in progress but we’re nearly there, thank you for bearing with us, we hope you agree that it was worth the wait and we’re all really looking forward to a fabulous SS18 season, filling the new space with gorgeous clothing and products. We have a few more surprises up our sleeves coming soon, so watch this space!
