SS19: What to expect & get excited about!

Bex and I always look back on our buying pics and it seems like a decade ago, so much has happened since then and it always shocks us how tanned, summery and warm we look and feel in the photos - especially as we’re currently in the throws of January it doesn’t seem possible that the carefree, warmth of Summer will return ever again! What can we expect for 2019? Pantone have announced their colour of the year - it’s a goody - Living Coral - Pantone 16-1546 it stands for ‘buoyant, vibrant and effervescent, a few shades louder than pink, but softer than red’

2019 is all about authenticity, experience and honesty, there is an urgent need to slow things down and to remember what matters, to preserve and nurture. Living Coral stands for so many things that we have been discussing collectively in the UK and on the world stage ‘in reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedded into our daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy - Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression.’ Pantone Institute.

SS19 Colour palette

The colour palette for Spring 19 is fresh and bold, it has good energy with coral at it’s heart, my other favourites are ‘Mango Mojito’, ‘Princess Blue’, ‘Terrarium Moss’ and ‘Turmeric’. Yellow is going to dominate for Spring once again in tones of mustard, acid yellow and lime green, pair with strong, vibrant bright blue, soft tones of earthy green and add a touch of sugary baby pink.

We have a new brand called Colourful Standard launching for spring, produced in Portugal using organic cotton, this sustainable brand is going to become a favourite, simple silhouettes and a rainbow of colours available in each style - as you can see I did some of the buying on my own and had to resort to selfies - it doesn’t come naturally to me and yes I look rather self conscious but all work in progress!!

Colour Standard
Spring is awash with soft, pale denim and we’re excited to bring you jumpsuits, denim dresses, denim coats and the newest cut from Levi’s which they promise to be their best to date - the Ribcage - it has a 13” rise , wide leg and slightly cropped - it’ll suck everything in and is as good on the bottom as the wedgie!

Clashing prints in bright florals, mix stripes and checks, snake print and coloured leopard print are all on trend and will be everywhere. Dress for yourself, be confident and comfortable, wear bold trainers or choose shoes in a statement colour, Clarks Originals have an almost edible collection of their core silhouettes in coral, cactus green, pale lemon and dusty blue, the perfect partnership between comfort and fashion.

What we’re most excited about is that we’ve got lots of Dungarees coming, we just can’t get enough of the dungaree and when we found this one at Ottod’Ame we had to buy it in three colours, the amazing Hartford ones are coming back and we have short ones, jumpsuits, and all manor of variations on the all in one!
