Summer 2017 Festival Guide
If you know us at all, you will know that Summer is without a doubt our favourite time of year. Being so close to the beach it’s hard not to get excited about the sun, the sea and wearing our favourite Mandy Sandals. The best thing about this time of year is that it’s also festival season! A good excuse to get our sequin jackets out, here are a few that we’re definitely going to hit up this year…
When: 21st - 25th June
Where: Worthy Farm, Somerset
Headliners: Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran
Cover yourself in glitter and get down to Worthy Farm. A must-do at least once in your life, it’s one of the UK’s oldest festivals and truly in a league of it’s own. Aside from having the world’s best festival food, 24-hour shenanigans and hundreds of world renowned musicians playing, this year they’re also adding the Cinemageddon area, which will include a massive film screen and 100 vintage American cars to sit in and watch the movies! Fun fact: With over 200,000 attendees, it would be the seventh largest city in the South of England at it’s peak.
BST HYDE PARK
When: 30th June - 9th July
Where: Hyde Park, London
Headliners: Phil Collins, Green Day, Justin Bieber, Kings of Leon, The Killer, Tom Petty & The Heartbreaks
Celebrating it’s fifth birthday, Hyde Park’s British Summer Time Festival has brought some of the world’s biggest stars, including The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder and Taylor Swift, to the capital. As the name suggests, the music festival holds six shows with more than sixty acts playing over two weekends in London’s Hyde Park. This year’s headliners are the most exciting yet - it’s not at every festival you find Phill Collins, Green Day and Justin Bieber on the same lineup!
When: 9th - 13th August
Where: Watergate Bay, Newquay
Headliners: Two Door Cinema Club, Jamiroquai, Alt-J
We couldn’t do a Summer festival round up without including Boardmasters! Just around the corner from our shop in Porth, Boardmasters mixes some of the best surfers and skaters in the world with three days of partying at Newquay’s iconic Watergate Bay. This year we are particularly excited about sampling some deliciousness at The Wild Oyster Restaurant hosted by Lee Skeet (yum!) as well as the prospect of seeing Jamiroquai for the ultimate nineties throwback moment!
When: 7-10 September
Where: Lulworth Estate, Dorset
Headliners: The XX, A Tribe Called Quest, Pet Shop Boys
We’d like to finish the Summer season off at glorious Bestival which has moved locations to an enchanting country estate with a massive castle and acres of woodland on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. This four-day, boutique, music festival not only has some amazing acts including Justice, Laura Mvula and Jamie T, but also has the world’s biggest bouncy castle, confetti cannon and disco ball. We are sold!
