BEAMS BOY
BEAMS BOY has been a staff favourite for many years. Almost an enigma, one of those unattainable brands we used to see in store’s in far flung places around the world.
Thankfully for us - BEAMS BOY opened up a handful of European accounts last year, for the first time since the brands inception in 1998 and we’re proud to say we made the cut.
Born out of love an appreciation for historically classic Menswear brands such as Ralph Lauren and LL Bean, this Japanese brand have spent the past 25 years, honing their iconic tomboy style. Drawing inspiration from American military, collegiate, workwear and outdoor styles and culture.
Their ability to take utilitarian styles and make them feminine and fun is something we love. Take the multi colour waffle knit for example, originally designed for it’s thermal layering properties for military and workwear personnel, BEAMS BOY have taken the shape and design aesthetics ie the raw edge hem and raglan sleeve, and re-created the piece using multi coloured panels to make a relatively practical items of clothing, fun, vibrant and perfect for seasonal layering with colour.
With a unique standard of ‘one size’ pieces throughout their designs - it’s incredible what this small team of designers are able to achieve; curating collections for both Japanese and European markets. Items have a remarkable way of fitting such a broad spectrum of sizes. The reversible cable knit tabard we have received in this first collection is amazing. Clearly inspired by classic chunky cable knit jumpers from the Menswear sphere, BEAMS BOY have created a piece that can not only be worn either way round, but also in a shape that fit’s sizes UK6 to UK14 with ease, achieving the same style an desired look through out the sizing spectrum. Who doe’s that?!
The brand stands upon the shoulders of authentic designs that remain unaffected by fads, trends or “current fashion” - one last reason for us to love BEAMS BOY - welcome to the family.
