The Planted House - Penzance

The shop front at The Planted House is planted in dripping lush greenery. It draws you straight to the door!
Once inside it's like being in a tropical rainforest; instantly soothing and utterly beautiful.
You can just feel Antonia's passion and love of plants. She was awarded a gold at Chelsea in 2022 for her aerial house plant installation which explains why the shop just looks so, so good.
Antonia is a fountain of knowledge and so lovely to talk to. She is full of plant advice on any houseplant!
I never miss a visit to Antonia's shop when I'm in Penzance.
What's in my Greenhouse?

My greenhouse has a little wooden table and two chairs inside. I really feel there is something magical about a greenhouse and love spending time in mine!
Right now, it's coffee and seed planting time... The heritage tomatoes are in and up and the baby cucumbers too, although only one has germinated so there will be a fight over those this year!
You will also find my favourite Watsonia, a South African beauty, split and divided; ready to fill the garden up.
I've re-potted a Strelitzia too, the bird of paradise. It's definitely a great time of year for re-potting your house plants.
R.Plants - re-stocked and ready to go!
The great excitement this week is the arrival of a whole new batch of lovely, lush new plants for the shop!
We've got some real stunners in already, and will be adding more each week.
Our plant shed will be brimming with greenery, and back to a lush jungle in no time; just come and have a browse! I can happily talk all day about plants, so please come and have a plant natter with me when you're next passing.

Argoe - Seafood Restaurant in Newlyn

Finally we made it down to Argoe in Newlyn to eat last weekend. Having heard so much about this tiny fish restaurant in the heart of the Fish Market it was such a pleasure to experience it first hand. Set right on the front of the main fishing hub of Cornwall, housed in a shipping container it's small but perfectly formed. They pride themselves in using whatever is caught that day and so the menu changes daily accordingly and they have an extensive range of wines by the glass, carafe or bottle. The food was inventive, deliciously simple yet exciting and mouth wateringly good. A relatively small menu with a mix of sharing plates, appetisers and grilled whole fish - we relished every mouthful and of course ordered too much - isn't that the whole premise of the sharing menu??
If you're in the area make sure you book and go. If you're not, then make a special journey - you won't regret it. Thank you team Argoe, we'll be back in the Summer to sit out on the deck in the sunshine and watch the world go by.
